So, how can we verify if we have a bad pump or we need to clean the pump canal? Easy, we choose step 1, clean the pump canal - from the pump all the way through the rubber drain baffle at the bottom of the washer.

Second step, get a large bowl or shallow pan to catch the water from the drain trap. Removing the trap cover too fast may cause a massive amount of water to flood out and cause damage. Remove it just enough so you can catch the water at a controlled rate.

Once all water has been drained out, remove the trap cover completely and clean all coin and debris from the trap. Disconnect the hose clamp from the rubber baffle hose that connects from the pump to the bottom of tub. Disconnect the large clamp from the hose at the bottom of the tub and remove the drain baffle. Inspect and clean it. Inspect and clean the orifice at the bottom of tub to make sure any socks or underwear hasn't clogged it.

Make sure there isn't anything stuck in it. Make sure the impeller moves freely. It should have a piston type of feedback feel when rotated. Make sure it is not broken from its shaft.
