Chevy van mirrors appear to be all alike for many years. But like many other parts appearances often can be deceiving. Here's the story.
The family van for us is a 1992 Chevy Van. It's a short wheelbase conversion van. These old vans were built on the 34 ton chassis and are tough as can be. Good thing.
My wife eased off the road at about 50 mph and the ride side mirror clipped a road sign. Then the right rear of the van kissed the sign post. Of course when the mirror hit the sign Mikko Koskinen Finland Jersey , it folded back toward the van and flew through the closed window, barely missing my little daughter in the passenger's seat. Whew!!!
My wife eased back on the road and brought it all on home. The small side-swipe was barely noticeable. The mirror was a total loss. No problem, I thought. This mirror design must have been used on millions of trucks and vans. At least there are many vehicles still on the road with mirrors that look much like this one does.
I ordered a replacement from a major mail order catalog. It was stainless steel Teuvo Teravainen Olympics Jersey , just like the original. When it arrived, I was a little puzzled. The mounting base for the mirror didn't match the radius of the van fender. It looked just about like the original, but it just really didn't fit. At least not without some serious bending of the mounting bracket. Send it back... It seemed a shame to send it back but it also seemed a shame to put on a part that really didn't fit either and bending it to fit seemed a little extreme.
Just head for the local auto parts store. Yep Jori Lehtera Olympics Jersey , they are in stock. Bring it home. Uh oh... Same funny looking bracket that doesn't quite match. Well. Just bend the thing. Bent it to fit the fender and it looked OK. Well, the adjustment was a little different. Maybe it'll be OK.
Time passes. The van see sun and rain.
A little rust starts to show up...
Then more. It's coming from inside the mirror. The old mirror on the driver's side is now 17 years old and not a speck of rust. Obviously the designers at GM specified either stainless fasteners or galvanized inside the mirror bracket. The aftermarket people made a mirror that looked like what came with the van, but the cheap fasteners turn the whole mirror into a rusty mess.
If I want the correct mirror Patrik Laine Olympics Jersey , then it's back to the dealer and pay up for quality. Than again, who knows but that the dealer mirror now may come from the same source... That means it's all but impossible to keep an older model vehicle like this in a good state of repair when it comes to trim pieces anyway.
A Vintage Chevy Van just goes on and on. They are cheap to buy and cheap to drive. Too bad they don't make parts like they used to. After looking over the GoECOlife GXC200T 20-Sheet Cross-Cut Green Commercial Shredder we were quite pleased with its specs. Now it may not be the cheapest on the market but we think that the few extra bucks you'll spend will be worth it. Check out the specs below and judge for yourself.
Security
At a level 3 security Lauri Korpikoski Olympics Jersey , this cross-cut shredder gets the job done. Although there are higher levels of security, a level 3 machine provides a sufficiently small cut size to put your identity theft worries to bed. We also like the cross-cut because it takes up much less space which means that you won't have to empty your bin as frequently as you would with a strip-cut machine. There is really no reason to jump up to a level 4 machine unless you have some ultra-sensitive documents you need destroyed.
Shredable Material
The GoECOlife GXC200T 20-Sheet Cross-Cut Green Commercial Shredder can shred CDs, Credit Cards Leo Komarov Olympics Jersey , Paper, Staples. If you need to be able to shred something else then we recommend that you look at a larger machine andor look for something with a little bit lower security (the higher the security the less likelihood that the machine shreds something other than paper).
Continuous Motor
This shredder is rated for continuous operation. That means that theoretically you could shred all day long and the machine would not have to shut-down to cool off. Remember that results may vary under real-world operating conditions and things such as the temperature of the room will affect the ability of this motor to stay cool and continue to shred. We give this machine 2 pats on the back for being rated continuous duty and we know that you'll appreciate this feature in due time.
Bin Size
With a 13.84 gallon bin, the GoECOlife GXC200T 20-Sheet Cross-Cut Green Commercial Shredder can hold a bit more shred than the smallest machines out there [url=http://www.cheapfinlandh
